Regular Class

Online lessons taught directly by professional manga artists and illustrators. Small-group classes with up to 4 students. Lessons are held on weekday evenings and weekend mornings.

Digital Class

Ibis Paint Class

Every teacher comes highly recommended!

All of our instructors are professional illustrators or manga artists who have completed foundational training in developmental support.

We hold regular instructor meetings where teachers share ideas, discuss classroom management, and support each other. Everyone at Japan Design Academy shares the same goal — to create lessons where everyone feels happy to learn.

I am very happy to be able to learn the latest Japanese illustration and manga drawing techniques from a professional Japanese illustrator.

He’s totally hooked! After class, he can’t stop talking — “What will we do next?” “This is how you draw it!” He’s so happy to share what he learned.

Q&A

What happens during the trial lesson?

In the trial lesson, your child will join a real class and learn basic techniques like how to draw a face.
If they enjoy it and wish to continue, they can stay in the same class afterward.

Please note that we do not offer a separate trial-only lesson or special instructor preparation. The purpose is for you to experience a real class as it is.

Are lessons offered only online, or are there any in-person classrooms available?

Our main academy offers online lessons only.

Our Classrooms Across Japan

My child hasn’t received a formal diagnosis, but I do have some concerns about their development. I’m wondering whether the “General Class” or the “Hattatsu Dekoboko Class” would be a better fit.

Both classes follow the same curriculum. We suggest starting with the General Class, and if your child needs a slower pace, you can easily switch to the Hattatsu Dekoboko Class later. Why not give it a try and see how your child enjoys it?

Is there anything we need to prepare before joining the class?

All you need is a computer, tablet, or smartphone with an internet connection.

We use Zoom, a free app that lets you join the class easily with just one click.

What happens if my child has to miss a class? Can we make it up later?

You can make up a missed class within the same month (or the next month if it’s the last week). You can easily reschedule by selecting an available date through our student app on your smartphone.

How many students are there in each class?

Regular classes have up to four students per class.
Even with make-up lessons, the maximum number of students is six.

Can siblings take classes together? Do you offer a sibling discount?

Each additional child receives a ¥3,000 discount (tax included).
